Note: Use ctrl + F4 to open/close the mod menu. You need to use it a few times while using the mod
The mod is inspired by the Lazarus Wings mod in the Risk of Rain 2 Racing scene allows players to keep the races more interesting.
You will be having an infinite ankh but on death you will get a 30 seconds penalty.

Features

Infinite Ankh

You have infinite lives, but each death gives you a time penalty.
- You start with an Ankh
- Every time you die, you regain the Ankh and get a 0.5 minute penalty

Seed input

Edit and share the seed at lightspeed
- When entering Character Select on a seeded run, your seed of your current run will be imported into the "Seed input" field
- To input a seed, paste your seed into the "Seed Input" field and then press "Update Seed"
- Updating the seed now works everywhere with the exception of Adventure mode character select screen and while you are in a run already

Emergency Button

Your personal get-out-of-jail card
- When pressed, it gives you a qilin and a 3 minute penalty
- The penalty time is reduced to 2 minutes if you have the tablet of destiny
- Make sure you are on the ground not having any other back item equipped and only press it once
- You use this usually when softlocked in a SC% run in tiamat, only being allowed to be used once you enter tiamat.
- It is by default locked outside of tiamat, but you can disable that in the mod menu
- There is also an option to change it back to the og jetpack (+ a free rope) for 4 minutes. This should generally not be done in a race

Instant restart protection

You will love this one, trust me
- If you instant restart, your total time carries over.
- In a race, you are usually always allowed to instant restart whenever you want to
- You usually want to instant restart to get out of softlocks, continue the race after accidentally breaking a category rule or to optimize dwelling.
- There is no additional penalty for using instant restart, only the time you have before the reset will be added.
- Use main menu to fully reset the timer (f.e when someone started too early)
- Tip: If you lost a lot of hp or are about to die in dwelling, it is sometimes better to instant restart

Fast Ankh animation

Did you know that the regular Ankh animation takes 11.3 seconds to complete? Lets change that
- Makes the ankh animation about 5.5 seconds shorter (Yes, that's almost twice as fast)

Ending time box

Extra box in the mod menu shows the ending time, even if you exit the win screen.
- Great for posting your time or when you accidentally went to the main menu already without writing it down
- Also works for short CO

Olmec Ankh

Get a little reward for picking up the olmec ankh
-Picking up the Ankh in Olmec (3-1) allows you to die once without receiving the time penalty
- Also reduces your total time by 10 seconds instantly as soon as you pick it up

Schrödinger's Ushabti

No peeking!
- Randomizes the correct ushabti at the start of a race (so not on instant restarts)

Short CO mode

CO, but fun
- Essentially enforces the ruleset of the short CO category
- Your run immediately ends once you reach 30 minutes
- The ending time box will display your furthest level, even if you instant restarted

Common racing ruleset

  • You play a seeded run with the same randomized seed
  • Whoever reaches the end with the least amount of time on the in-game clock wins
  • Teleporters are generally banned

Example categories

  • Any% No TP
  • SC% No TP
  • Abzu%
  • Duat%
  • Low%
  • Short CO (CO is too long trust me)

Sunken city%/short CO% Emergency button rules

  • Until reaching tiamat, the Emergency button is banned
  • Once you reach tiamat, press the button to equip a jetpack and use it to quilin skip
  • On short CO runs, you can use the emergency button at any point you like and permanently equip the jetpack.

Short CO runs

A unique twist on the Cosmic Ocean category.
- You play with a limit of 30 minutes (Or 1 hour), trying to get as far into CO as possible.
- Whenever someone reaches 30 minutes on the in-game clock, you end your run.
- In this category you can (if each runner agrees) also start with a jetpack, using the emergency button. (You will be allowed to use the emergency button at any time you like then).
- Once all players reach the time limit, the player who got the furthest in terms of levels, wins.
- On a tie, the player who hit the time limit first wins.

12.0 The final update

I have spent a long time updating the mod. I am pretty happy with how it turned out and this final version will probably last the longest. I cannot really continue from now on due to the moderators in the hd server ignoring me so I cannot appeal an unban and now school being my new focus. Strap in, we have one last update to talk about with tons of changes.

Normal balance changes

Emergency jetpack buff
- The emergency jetpack gets a reduced penalty when you have obtained the table by 1 minute (From 4 minute to 3 minutes) (Doesn't apply to short CO)

Mod menu overhaul

It will look a lot more nicer now
Sections
- All the different types of setting have now been categorized, so you can better find the thing you are looking for
Adaptive settings
The settings now appear and disappear based on the selected options, including changing description, primarily in the emergency button section.
Descriptions:
- All different type of emergency buttons now include a custom description giving you the exact time penalty.
- It will also mention the correct tablet penalty reduction.
The additional emergency button options now appear/vanish adaptively:
- During short CO, all buttons vanish (Using lock off and jetpack on permanently)
- While the emergency button lock is active, the emergency jetpack is both disabled and removed (You need to now disable the lock to access the emergency jetpack to begin with)
- When disabling the lock, the emergency jetpack automatically get enabled once and becomes visible (You can manually disable the jetpack if you only want a qilin)
Ending time changes
- CO wins (Like actually beating 7-99) now properly display in the ending time section
- The ending time cannot be edited from the outside. It will always show the correct time, even if you fiddle with it.

Short CO rework

With the default settings we have a hard time balancing the long runs, since a semi-aggressive strategy with big risk of losing jetpack is dominating the meta.
New changes aim to allow for a more unique strategy and loadout.
Ankh penalty has been increased to 1 minute
- We have noticed, that most player opt to play much more aggressively and reckless than we like to
- This change should encourage staying alive more and to put more weight into hp gain items.
- This should also make the 2 hp meta much more dangerous.
The penalty time for the emergency jetpack has been reduced to 2 minutes
- The main reason why the jetpack penalty was so high to begin with was because of the time investment needed to go through chain.
- With many chain buffs recently and a overall consistently faster chain from most player we can start balancing the jetpack around CO, where the risk of blowing it up skyrockets
- A big issue we have encountered is, that the risk of loosing the jetpack has been notoriously high. Most players stopped even getting the jetpack to begin with just because they are too afraid to blow it up early on. The new change is made to encourage using the jetpack sooner and play less carefully around jetpack one-shots.
The penalty time for the emergency jetpack is reduced by 30 seconds (2 minutes -> 1.5minutes) if you have the tablet of destiny
- Qilin skipping with the emergency button has been made much easier with the jetpack buffs
- To allow chain to compete, it now essentially grants you a permanent buff, allowing jetpacks to be used much more aggressively, since the penalty for blowing up is now always 30 seconds lower
- Especially if you want to play with a more aggressive playstyle (or if u bad), going chain should be you most beneficial route.
Mod menu changes
As states above, this mode now has removed the configurability to aim for definitive ruleset, so:
- Emergency lock is permanently off
- Emergency jetpack is permanently on

Bugfixes

The olmec ankh LITERALLY DIDN'T WORK
- This has now been fixed
- Return of the old bug of crushing the ankh triggering it
There was still a 1 frame time reduction when starting a new run
- Not anymore

Error messages
- Slightly lowered the amount of error statements (If you see a message top-left, you should still bother to look at it, it might be still a failing effect)
- Also changed error description when auto updating from a bad spot.

- Made the penalty times more accessible (So you could edit them easily now if you know how)
- Also added the competitive times in the comments (If you want to give them a try before I release an official version)

The emergency button has been reworked to be a qilin instead of a jetpack
- The qilin stays at 3 minutes penalty, but gets lowered to 2 minutes if you have a tablet
- The jetpack has been moved to be a selectable option. It now always includes the bonus rope and has an increased penalty time of 4 minutes
Seed input has been greatly reworked
- The automatic seed update on gamestart/automatic seed import remain the same
- The old seed functionality has been fully removed o7
- The update seed button now automatically puts you into a seeded run if you are in a menu and pastes the seed into the seed input on the seed input screen
- The old seed update continues to be used inside of the character select to prevent a softlock (So adventure mode will not be detected still)
Schrödinger's Ushabti
- Upon starting a new race, the ushabti will be randomized. This is made to make stream sniping less effective
Olmec Ankh buff
- On top of a free revive, it now also reduces the total time by 10 seconds
- This is to incentivize more player to pick it up, since it can now ensure that you regain at least the time lost by getting it
Return of the short CO mode!
- This mode has been in the beta versions for a long time, but is now out!
- Enable it in the mod menu before the start of a run
- It automatically ends your run at 30 minutes.
- Additionally, it also show your furthest level in the ending time tab
